Norm Emergence with Biased Agents

چکیده
Recent literature in multiagent systems show a significant increase in interest and research on normative systems which are defined as (Boella, Torre, & Verhagen, 2008): A normative multiagent system is a multiagent system organized by means of mechanisms to represent, communicate, distribute, detect, create, modify, and enforce norms, and mechanisms to deliberate about norms and detect norm violation and fulfillment.

Local Norm Phenomena in Multi-Agent Systems under Community Networks
This paper investigates how local norm emergence, other than conventional global norm emergence, helps to achieve coordination among agents in multi-agent systems. That is, when agents are partitioned into communities, different communities of agents establish different social norms. We provide a definition of local norms and propose two metrics, namely, conformity to local norms and diversity ...
متن کاملNorm emergence under constrained interactions in diverse societies
Effective norms, emerging from sustained individual interactions over time, can complement societal rules and significantly enhance performance of individual agents and agent societies. Researchers have used a model that supports the emergence of social norms via learning from interaction experiences where each interaction is viewed as a stage game. In this social learning model, which is disti...
متن کاملSocial norm emergence in virtual agent societies (Short Paper)
The advent of virtual environments such as SecondLife call for a distributed approach for norm emergence and spreading. In open virtual environments, monitoring various interacting agents (avatars), using a centralized authority might be computationally expensive. The number of possible states and actions of an agent could be huge. An approach for sustaining order and smoother functioning of th...
متن کاملSilk: A Simulation Study of Regulating Open Normative Multiagent Systems
In a multiagent system, a (social) norm describes what the agents may expect from each other. Norms promote autonomy (an agent need not comply with a norm) and heterogeneity (a norm describes interactions at a high level independent of implementation details). Researchers have studied norm emergence through social learning where the agents interact repeatedly in a graph structure. In contrast, ...
متن کاملNormal = Normative? The Role of Intelligent Agents in Norm Innovation
In this paper the results of several agent-based simulations, aiming to test the role of normative beliefs in the emergence and innovation of social norms, are presented and discussed. Rather than mere behavioral regularities, norms are here seen as behaviors spreading to the extent that and because the corresponding commands and beliefs do spread as well. On the grounds of such a view, the pre...
